Position Overview

The Dravet Syndrome Foundation (DSF) is dedicated to accelerating research of Dravet syndrome while also advocating for and supporting those living with this rare and lifelong developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. This remote, full-time position presents a meaningful opportunity to play a role in improving the lives of patients and families living with this devastating disease.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized individual to help with a wide variety of fundraising tasks. Responsibilities include fundraising data entry, correspondence, creating media for events, and maintaining event websites.

Remote, full-time schedule with some flexibility. Evenings and weekends may be required at the time of fundraising events. Required travel of a minimum of twice annually, up to 6 times per year. Some events we attend may require proof of COVID vaccination. The candidate should be U.S.-based. 

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Support Executive Director, Program Director, and Campaign Director 
  • Attend bi-monthly staff meetings
  • Assist with our donor database, including entering donations and producing thank you letters promptly, pulling data for mailings, and producing reports
  • Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, prospect research, and events 
  • Assist with creating and distributing event materials (emails, solicitation letters, etc.) in a professional, timely, and accurate manner
  • Help organize and participate in fundraising events 
  • Assist with preparing grant proposals  
  • Assist with maintaining website and social media sites pertaining to fundraising events
  • Maintain key inventory
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience strongly preferred 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to manage a diverse and adapting workload with limited supervision, set priorities, and follow projects through to completion. 
  • Stellar communication skills are required, including verbal communication in-person and by telephone and written communication. The successful candidate must communicate clearly with people having a variety of experiences, including: medical professionals, individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, and those with disabilities or their caregivers
  • The ability to work well with others as part of a team is required, particularly a team in which accountability and responsibilities are shared. The successful candidate will seek to grow and learn continuously and to share his/her own knowledge and experience with others. 
  • Comfort with technology is required, including setting up and utilizing web meetings, teleconferences, online secure sharing of documents, and scheduling meetings across multiple time zones. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Suite is expected. Experience with Elemenator, Givergy, Salsa CRM, Canva, and video and photo editing software is a plus.

Requirements/Other:

  • Must be available and willing to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be available to travel up to 6 times per year for events.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to endure some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as office equipment and boxes of supplies. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as lifting up to 50 pounds, above-average agility, and dexterity.

Salary: $41,600 - $45,760, based on experience
