SUMMARY

The Foundation Manager will manage a mature and growing pipeline of over $3 million in institutional and public support. Focused on our New York funders, the Manager is responsible for the project management and grant writing for this well-established portfolio, including multi-year funders and new prospects. As STRIVE continues to grow and our New York City operations expand and evolve, there is much to share in order to excite a donor base and be connected to the largest site in STRIVE’s network. This is a great opportunity to grow a group of funders and add new sources, all while working with a team of associates and reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving. The Manager will work closely with local STRIVE Executive Directors, Executive team members, and savvy staff to strengthen and grow the funding base. The Manager will be a key member in a dynamic, energetic team. The position operates within a hybrid workweek, with in-person days in the East Harlem office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish new grant funding sources and manage a current portfolio to increase support in the New York portfolio of supporters.
  • Identify, cultivate, and engage corporate and local foundation funders supporting the relationship building of local Executive Directors and the National VP of Development and Communications.
  • Project manage and write city and state grants, as applicable
  • Proposal development and writing; copy-editing; proofreading; and assisting in submissions.
  • Maintain a master project management of proposal deadlines, progress reports, and final grant reports, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to deadlines for New York.
  • Work with STRIVE leadership and program staff to identify goals and strategies for institutional partners on an annual basis.
  • Work with Associate and Finance team to ensure proper grant kick-off processes and grant management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum two years of Development experience with a successful track record in securing grants of $50,000-$100,000, of both private and public funding
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team
  • The intelligence, maturity and sound judgment necessary for interacting with donor prospects, board members, and executive staff
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Experience conducting stewardship activities to cultivate and maintain positive donor and foundation relationships.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software (Foundation Center, Blackbaud products) and project management software (Asana) are encouraged but not required.
  • Knowledge of New York funding community
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft office
  • Salary : $65,000-$80,ooo
