Giffords is seeking a Florida Development Manager to support its fundraising program in and around Florida. The Florida Development Manager will serve as an integral member of the major gifts and development team. This position will lead and support our stewardship and cultivation of our Circle of Courage ($1,000 - $9,999) and Leadership ($10,000+) supporters and prospects, conduct research on prospective and current donors, coordinate logistics for events, draft briefing materials, and coordinate proposals.

This is a full-time position based in Florida with a preference for candidates located in South Florida. This position requires the ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, as well as interest and ability in staffing occasional weekend and evening events. As the safety and wellbeing of our team is of utmost importance, Giffords has a COVID vaccine requirement for all staff, with limited exceptions as required by federal and state law. This position will be fully remote based in Florida, with in-person events and travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

o   Develop and lead an ambitious pipeline development program which includes prospect research, outreach and scheduling to introduce our principals and senior staff to potential donors around the state

o Strategically oversee and facilitate donor relationships including trip management, securing and staffing principal donor meetings, consistent outreach to current and lapsed donors, and responding to donor requests

o Support in the creation of briefing materials for all interactions including call sheets, meetings, and events with major donors for Giffords principals and Regional Director

o   Perform data entry and maintain all donor interactions in CRM/fundraising database

o  Identify and work with event hosts to create opportunities to expand our Florida base by working with various Giffords stakeholders including but not limited to Gun Owner, Giffords Florida Steering Committee volunteers, donors and other organizational friends and allies. 

o   Support the implementation of a donor cultivation and benefits program for current and prospective major donors

o Work with Florida State Director to represent Giffords in various external events and meetings across the state 

Required knowledge, skills + experience

  • At least 2-3 years of experience with direct individual donor solicitation and comfortable securing major and principal gifts from existing pipeline 
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted projects and a capacity to perform independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Outstanding analytical, strategic planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage diverse audiences and to build long-term relationships, including experience leveraging executive-level staff and stakeholders to achieve fundraising success
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills and the creation of proposals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and previous experience with fundraising Client Relationship Management software
  • A commitment to gun violence prevention

Salary + benefits

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience. We expect most candidates to start at the bottom of the range. Competitive benefits include employer-funded health, dental, and vision insurance; health, transit, and parking flexible spending accounts; 401k plan with 4% employer match; reimbursement for cell phone and monthly wifi stipend, 25 days of PTO annually plus paid week closure at the end of the calendar year; and ten paid federal holidays.
