Description

We are hiring for two Field Managers. The Field Manager role is a newly created position that will report to Sister District’s Head of Campaigns. The Field Manager position will provide administrative and programmatic support for Sister District’s volunteer-facing programs and serve as the chief information conduit between endorsed campaigns and Sister District HQ. The Field Manager will be responsible for conducting regular outreach and managing communications with partner campaigns, facilitation of on-going volunteer programs, and will be responsible for ensuring prompt responses to volunteer inquiries. The Field Manager will also provide support with the implementation of new departmental programs, research, and special projects as needed.

This role is best suited for candidates with a passion for progressive politics and a desire to learn/grow within the progressive political sphere. The position requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills (think customer service skills) and excellent attention to detail.

Management of Volunteer-Powered Field & Fundraising Programs (50%)

  • Respond to questions and provide general day-to-day support for SDP volunteers related to field and fundraising programs.
    • This includes managing candidate appearance requests, creating postcard scripts and packets for campaign approval and distributing postcard addresses and instructions to teams, and responding to volunteer inquiries about field and fundraising programs.
  • Ensure the proper set-up and publication of ongoing volunteer programs.
    • This includes reviewing phone-banking scripts and ensuring that phonebanking links are live and on our website.
  • Support the roll-out and implementation of new volunteer-facing programs.

Campaign Support Services (40%)

  • Help with candidate and campaign vetting during endorsement process.
  • Coordinate and manage communication between Sister District HQ and endorsed campaigns.
    • This includes short check-in calls with campaigns every other week.
  • Collect, record, and support the achievement of campaign field and fundraising metrics.
  • Submit short, bi-weekly reports to Political Department on the state of each campaign.
  • Provide additional campaign support services as requested by Head of Campaigns.

Internal Political Department Support (10%)

  • Help to identify solutions for improving efficiency and standardized processes within and across our field and fundraising programs.
  • Help ensure integrity of tracking systems and collected data.
  • Support Political Department with research and special projects, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional work experience
  • Minimum:
    • One cycle of electoral or issue campaign experience
      • OR
    • One year of experience in a non-profit volunteer or program management role
  • Basic working knowledge of VAN (Voter Activation Network)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Creativity and ability to implement innovative ideas to improve process management
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, prioritize, and manage implementation of plans in fast-moving, changeable environments
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to voting rights, progressive social values and public policies

Bonus Points for:

  • Volunteer management experience
  • Field and/or Digital Organizing experience
  • Experience with Hustle, ThruText, or other texting platforms

Hours and Location

Sister District is a fully virtual organization, and the position may be filled from anywhere in the US. This is a full-time 40-hour per week contract position that does not offer benefits. The position runs through November 12, 2020 and will require some work on the weekends and the possibility of extended hours during GOTV.
