Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic full-time farm educator to help us unearth the power of food to build healthy communities. This person should be highly motivated and passionate about leading hands-on food and farming activities for students of all ages – from elementary to college and beyond – on topics ranging from regenerative farming to hydroponics to nutrition and more. This person will collaborate with the team to strategize educational programs, and will be responsible for designing lesson plans, leading workshops, and evaluating impact. This person will also work closely with our education partners, including Orange County Public Schools, Valencia College, and Orlando Science Center. Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other team members and community partners to design and implement educational programs
- Develop and lead lesson plans, workshops, projects, and activities
- Assist with maintaining educational growing spaces (box gardens, shipping container farm, field garden, greenhouse, permaculture, etc.)
- Support volunteer program as needed
- Assist with other projects as needed
Requirements
- Passion for farming, local food systems, and education
- Solid knowledge of various growing techniques
- Experience designing and leading farm/garden classes/workshops for various age groups
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Effective collaboration and communication with other team members
- Strong desire to learn and grow with the team
- Positive, flexible attitude
- Ability to advocate for 4Roots’ broader goals and mission
- 2+ years of experience with sustainable/regenerative farming practices
- 2+ years of classroom experience working with groups of students
- Degree in education preferred
