Incorporated in 2010, the Economic Growth Business Incubator (EGBI) provides training, coaching, and support services to aspiring and existing business owners who face barriers such as language, knowledge, and finances. We provide all of our services in both English and Spanish. We work long term with clients to help them through issues and opportunities including technology challenges. Our services include workshops around topics such as bookkeeping, virtual office space, 1:1 coaching and more – with programming provided by volunteers and staff. To make our work as accessible as possible, many of our services are free or largely subsidized by community partners. We work long term with clients to help them through issues and opportunities, including challenges with technology.  Across the organization's programming work, over the 2021 calendar year, we have spent 238 hours training community members and 781 hours consulting with small business owners. Throughout and after our work with clients, they have generated over $43M in revenue, created 268 part-time jobs and 400 full-time jobs.
In 2021, EGBI provided services to over 400 aspiring and existing business owners: 84% people of color (predominantly Hispanic and African American) and 74% female. Eighty-seven percent of clients registering for our classes reported their household incomings at 80% or below Austin’s median family income. We provided over 200 hours of training and over 750 hours of coaching. Through our bookkeeping services, EGBI was able to assist 54 businesses to get their books organized to understand their financial position better.
