Description

The USA Artistic Swimming Foundation is searching for its first-ever Executive Director to help implement our vision and mission.  We are looking for someone with a passion for athletics, women’s sports and/or aquatics and a heart for serving our community. Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan of the organization to meet fundraising goals, directing marketing and communications efforts, and stewarding the financial resources of the Foundation.

 

Launched in 1984, the USA Artistic Swimming Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of USA Artistic Swimming, Inc.  The Foundation’s Vision is “Artistic swimming thrives in the US with a strong community of enthusiastic and diverse philanthropic contributors.”  Our Mission is “Committed to funding the growth of the sport and preparing today’s artistic swimmers to become tomorrow’s champions & leaders.”

 

General Responsibilities: 

 

  • Fundraising: Raise funds to support mission and vision of USA Artistic Swimming Foundation (USAASF)
  • Inspire broad-based personal participation and passionate commitment to philanthropy and support of advancement/development initiatives.
  • Cultivate and manage donor relationships to inspire passionate commitment to the USAASF Mission and elicit long-term participation by the donor community.
  • Maintain an appropriate percentage of constituents in all stages of the development cycle: discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship resulting in securing five to seven figure foundation gifts.
  • Collaborate with USAASF Board members in developing marketing plans for existing and potential programs of interest to individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop collateral for communication with prospective donors for annual fund, major gifts, planned-giving, endowments, grant proposals, and other.
  • Generate and update the organization’s website, e-newsletters, email, social media.
  • Maintain the fundraising database.

 

  • Leadership: Communicate effectively with the Board to fulfill the organization’s mission.

 

  • Steward the Foundation in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the USAASF Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with the CEO of USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) and the President of the National Governing Board of USAAS.
  • Provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the USAASF Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Coordinate USAASF Board of Director meeting logistics.

 

  • Organizational Operation: Oversee and implement appropriate resources to maintain effective operations.

 

  • Responsible for effective administration of the Foundation’s operations; thereby allowing the USAASF Board to focus on fundraising and awarding grants.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of the annual strategic plan with the USAASF Board.
  • Oversee staff and independent contractors as needed.

 

  • Financial Viability:  Oversee resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the foundation.

 

  • Responsible for fiscal integrity that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Work with Treasurer and Finance Committee to monitor the performance of the Foundation’s investment portfolio.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of nonprofit management/fundraising experience, ideally with a sports organization or related experience. Past or present participation in athletic competition is a plus.

 

Required Knowledge and Critical Skills:

  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
  • Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors.
  • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies, and volunteers.
  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and the overall artistic swimming community.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including budgeting, planning, fundraising development, and task facilitation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office systems, Outlook, Teams, and database programs.
  • Periodic travel and periodic work on weekends/evenings are a requirement.

 

Compensation and Benefits

$55,000-80,000 annual salary, with benefits commensurate with experience.

Work Location

Remote or the USA Artistic Swimming National office located in Colorado Springs, CO, as approved by USAASF Chair in coordination with USAAS CEO.
