Who we are:

Thomas Ridley’s 1 Like Me, Inc. is an Indianapolis based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting citizens returning home from prison. We inspire returning citizens to overcome the many hurdles and challenges of successful reentry by providing mentoring, educational opportunities, and eliminating certain financial barriers, as determined on an individualized basis. We strive to create a safe space for our participants to grow their confidence, healthy decision-making, and self-respect to ensure the best possible outcome while they reacclimate to home. Our program strives to serve any returning citizens, which is intended to promote a culture of inclusion in the reentry community. We are committed to leveraging our resources to ensure that this will be our participants’ last trip home.

Position Summary:

Our company has been on an incredible growth trajectory, and this will be our first hire for the Executive Director position. We are looking for someone to provide leadership, vision, and direction for the program, in connection with the larger reentry community here in Indianapolis. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the 1 Like Me mission and will report to the 1 Like Me Board of Directors.

The Executive Director must embrace the mission of helping our citizens make a successful transition home. The right candidate will be empathetic, passionate, and have a strong desire to help individuals succeed. A successful candidate for this position will be comfortable in and among the community of people we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

Vision and Strategy

  • Provide oversight for all aspects of program management, conducting work that aligns with the mission and core values of the organization
  • Work with the 1 Like Me Board of Directors and staff to develop a strategic plan, identifying and preparing for infrastructure growth and program expansion
  • Develop creative growth strategies with the goal of growing access to services and diversifying the support the company provides
  • Develop and foster a strong and open dialog with the 1 Like Me Board of Directors
  • Serve as an ambassador to raise awareness by building and maintaining relationships with local media, service organizations, and the community
  • Provide direction, support, and professional development opportunities for staff members

Partnership Development and Fundraising

  • Oversee fundraising and serve as the face of the organization in the community
  • Collaborate with team members for grant writing efforts and generally oversee that process
  • Engage in planning and implementation of short term and long term fundraising initiatives
  • Ensure community engagement is consistent with the mission and core values of 1 Like Me

Operational Administration

  • Ensure the organization remains complaint with all laws governing not for profit organizations and with the requirements and reporting for each grant the agency receives
  • Create agency wide standard operating procedures to guide the organization into the future
  • Oversee data collection and work to optimize data collection to track progress towards agency and grant related goals
  • Manage the organization with a business mindset by establishing and implementing efficient systems and strategies
  • Oversee all aspects of personnel management including hiring and training staff, planning and directing work, coaching and staff development, managing and evaluating performance, managing corrective actions and procedures, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Financial Management

  • Oversee the budget with the goal of ensuring financial stability and optimal financial management
  • Develop an annual budget, manage revenue and expenses in conjunction with an accounting professional
  • Review monthly financial reporting for accuracy

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree or comparable experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate coworkers
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to deliver presentations
  • Flexible and adaptable with willingness to continually learn and grow
  • Knowledge of non-profit best practices including experience with working with a Board of Directors
  • Readiness to embrace the community we serve
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Strong knowledge and working understanding of technology

Work Environment:

This job is full time in Indianapolis and the candidate must be local in order to develop relationships and serve the community.

Compensation:

This is a full-time exempt position offering a salary of $50-70k annually, depending on experience. A benefits package is in development for this role.
