Description

Centro Humanitario Para los Trabajadores (El Centro) is a Denver based nonprofit 501 c 3 organization whose mission is to promote the rights and well-being of low wage immigrant workers in the Denver metro area through educational classes, job skill development, leadership development, and advocacy.

El Centro’s Vision is that Immigrant Workers are their own agents of change. They belong, thrive, and contribute in a significant way to their families, communities, and the global social justice movement.

The primary role of the Executive Director is to guide the internal and external operations of El Centro and to inspire collaboration, develop shared values and guide the overall strategic direction of the organization.

  1. The Executive Director must be team-oriented and passionate about building power amongst immigrant and low-wage workers and engender unity within a community of like-minded supporters and collaborators.
  2. The Executive Director will manage continued financially stability and responsible growth that responds to the needs and aspirations of immigrant and low wage workers.
  3. The Executive Director must maintain and develop positive relationships with El Centro’s membership of workers and embrace, value, and foster the participative and democratic inclusion and input of worker members in shaping programs and strategy.
  4. The Executive Director must sustain El Centro’s strong profile among local, regional, and national constituencies and collaborators including donors, allies, corporations, foundations, government, and other nonprofits.
  5. The Executive Director is accountable to the community as a whole and reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience within immigrant communities or working knowledge of immigrant experiences.
  • Five years of experience in nonprofit management, in social justice movements, labor or immigration services or Bachelor degree in a similar and/or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in project management/program evaluation/staff or volunteer supervision
  • Fluent and culturally competent Spanish speaker with strong written and oral communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a successful and sustainable financially sound organization.
  • Ability to communicate creatively and clearly, for a variety of audiences across email, website, and social media.

  • Dependable and well-organized. Able to lead effective decision-making in complex situations.
  • Thoughtful interpersonal communicator with skills in speaking, listening, and conflict resolution in both English and Spanish.
  • Able to communicate well with people across diverse demographics including workers, politicians, stakeholders, and donors.
  • Able to effectively work in an environment where programs and activities are always evolving and changing.

Compensation/Benefits: Salary range of $65,000-85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Full Health and Dental coverage, 10-paid holidays/year, plus personal and sick time accrued throughout the year. Full-Time, exempt position
