Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking & Perry Counties (BBBSLP) seeks an Executive Director who will lead the agency to ensure that the mission, strategy, values, and goals are achieved.  This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

BBBSLP, located in Newark, Ohio, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that employs an average of 14 full-and-part time employees and has an operating budget of approximately $5oo,000 annually.  Its primary mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human services, or related field.  Minimum of seven (7) years of proven results in building an organization and achieving results, in a non-profit environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire staff, establish strategic objectives, and develop and execute work plans.
  • Fundraising, marketing, and public relations experience required to successfully engage external stakeholders including funders, corporate partners, policymakers, and communities, and form resilient value-added, mutual partnerships
  • Board development experience.
  • Excellent understanding of finance-related performance standards and the proven ability to develop and execute financial strategies, fund-raising and grants.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with verifiable public speaking experience.
  • Must have excellent visionary and strategic leadership skills and be able to lead a group with empathy and good listening skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating staff and board culture within evolving organization, recognizing inherent changes that accompany organizational growth and development.
  • Demonstrated high ethical standards for self and organization.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, website management, various social media platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Board of Directors to develop and execute short-and-long term strategic plans that focuses on fund development, community partnerships, program growth and agency capacity development.
  • Throughout the agency, maintain a culture in which youth safety remains the number one priority.  Comply with established policies and procedures that best protect youth by ensuring effective screening and selection of staff and volunteers, and professional monitoring of match relationships.  Ensure staff, parents, volunteers, children, and board members are properly trained in recognizing and responding to suspected child abuse.
  • Ensure proper fiscal management, including but not limited to operating within the approved budget, maximizing resources utilization, and maintaining a positive financial position for the agency.  Demonstrate the ability to read and understand financial documents including budgets, cash flow, income statements, balance sheets and the like.
  • Manage grant writing and program funding including major gifts, corporate giving, grants, and additional financial contributions that align to ensure fund development goals are achieved.
  • Serve as the agency ambassador by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.  Present at public speaking engagements on behalf of BBBSLP.  Identify potential donors and sponsors consistent with legal and ethical fundraising practices.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Board of Directors.  Work with Board Chairperson to develop a Board that has a strong mix of talents, expertise, and resources to meet current and emerging needs.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the agency in alignment with the policies set forth by the Board of Directors and the Standards of Practice as an independent affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Attract, hire, retain, and develop staff talent. Promote a positive work environment operated with openness and integrated planning across the organization to achieve an engaged and high performing staff. Manage all aspects of Human Resource functions with the agency.
  • Adhere to nationally adopted standards for child safety, training, match support, governance, and branding.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 Schedule

Normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Attendance at conferences, speaking engagements and other agency business may be required after normal working hours, including weekends.  This position is full-time, exempt.
