Description

The Donor Experience Officer (DXO), reporting to the Senior Director of Annual Giving, works as a part of a high-performing, donor-centered team responsible for assisting the OSU Foundation to create deeper connections with its donors and achieve its leadership annual giving goals. Using a variety of channels (email, social, video conferencing, and phone) and sales enablement technologies, the DXO stewards an assigned portfolio of donors by providing outreach and information that increases their engagement with Oregon State and regularly solicits them for annual gifts and cause-based initiatives

The successful candidate will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the first day of employment.  

Work Location

This position will be based in Corvallis, Oregon and will work out of the OSU Foundation Corvallis office.

The Foundation offers a program called Core Work Days, a hybrid approach combining remote and in-office work days. Unless traveling for work, Foundation employees are in office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and work remotely, if preferred, on Monday and Friday.

Measures of Success

Meet and exceed clearly defined activity, donor and dollars raised and qualification goals:

  • 80% Donor Retention Rate
  • 85% Revenue Retention Rate
  • 20% Reactivated Donors

Major Duties 

  • Manage a portfolio of 1,000 annual giving donors. Cultivate relationships with these donors via email, phone, social, video conferencing, texting, and our sales enablement platform. Perform + outbound touchpoints per day.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences (averaging 35+ outbound touchpoints per day) across portfolio to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication.
  • Demonstrate to donors the impact of their giving. Provide information on university developments and programs relative to their interests. Share upcoming opportunities to attend events, volunteer, participate in alumni association activities/services, or otherwise deepen their engagement with the university.
  • Solicit donors to make new gifts. Promote philanthropic opportunities, such as university and college giving priorities, crowdfunding projects, Dam Proud Day, alumni association membership.
  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge of the university, such as admissions, athletics, colleges, and continuing education. Develop network of contacts throughout the university to access for additional information. Build out resource hub of relevant content to share with donors.
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of the Annual Giving, Advancement Communications, Pipeline Development, and Athletics teams as part of a comprehensive multi-channel marketing program, including direct mail, email, social media and telefund channels.
  • Identify and engage with alumni influencers in the digital and social media realms.
  • Identify when an annual donor expresses major gift potential and work with the Director of Pipeline development to refer these to colleagues to the appropriate Major Gift staff member.

Knowledge:

  • knowledge of Oregon State University colleges, programs, sports, etc. very helpful in fulfilling the duties of this position

  • be fluent in the “menu” of engagement and philanthropic opportunities across the university (regional alumni events, on campus events, mentorship and volunteer opportunities, crowdfunding campaigns, OSU fundraising priorities) to inform conversations and solicitations

Minimum Requirements 

Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in direct sales, fundraising or marketing; higher education fundraising experience preferred. Education and experience equivalencies will be considered.
