About the Position

The primary responsibility of the Director for Partnerships is to effectively manage and build organizational fundraising, sponsorship opportunities and partnerships around the globe. Reporting to the Vice-President, External Engagement, the Director for Partnerships will develop a partnership and funding strategy, and lead the Partnerships team to deliver it. The ideal candidate will be a creative and results-oriented professional who has demonstrated experience delivering projects with multiple stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with VP of External Engagement to develop a partnership and funding strategy, and lead the Partnerships team to deliver it
  • Identify, develop and implement an effective engagement strategy for organizations that support ISOC’s mission and build effective and fruitful partnership
  • Work with all ISOC teams to identify opportunities for partners to collaborate on programs and projects via collaborative (exchange of non-financial resources), programmatic (exchange of financial resources), and sponsorship activities (receipt of funding for specific ISOC activities
  • Achieve fundraising targets
  • Work with the Community Engagement team to convert partners to members as appropriate
  • Build strong and lasting relations with new and existing partner organization
  • Ensure the Partnerships team maintains a roster of ISOC partners and associated partnership agreements that is accurate, up to date, and transparent to all staff via the designated platform
  • Ensure effective management of partnership
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Teamwork: Work closely and quickly establish excellent rapport and working relations amongst internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
  • Minimum 10 years professional experience (non-profit experience a plus)
  • Tangible experience of having cultivated and expanded partnerships with organizations across sectors over time
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of partners and build long-term relationships
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical partnership initiatives and actively look for opportunities to contribute to the success of projects and programs via partnerships
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight while maintaining accountability and transparency via reporting
  • A team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organizations
  • High energy and passion for Internet Society's mission is essential
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement individual development plans for direct reports
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English is a must; any additional language is a bonus)
  • A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time
  • The willingness and ability to travel extensively
