Position Description:
Partnership for Strong Communities seeks a Director of Major Giving and Grants to head our ongoing funding efforts. Reporting to the executive director, this senior professional must have an established background in coordinating nonprofit donation strategies, philanthropic relationship management and grant-writing. Candidates with knowledge and understanding around the issues of affordable housing, homelessness, poverty, racial equity, underrepresented populations and community development will be strongly considered.

This role involves working with board members, managing our fund and building relationships with donors and staff. The director will also seek and manage all major gifts and implement major giving and planned giving fundraising strategies.  This includes ongoing stewardship of existing donor relationships and cultivating new ones.  The director will be responsible for drafting and implementing a complete development plan.  The role may involve planning, managing and evaluating one or more fundraising events.

The director will also be responsible for overseeing and mentoring our current development associate and, with her, overseeing the Partnership’s grant seeking, grant writing and grant reporting activities.  This includes relationship management with current grantors. The director will work with the associate to develop and implement an annual strategic plan for grant management.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of fund development experience, preferably in the nonprofit field. The director should also be familiar with donor databases and other fundraising technology (like Salesforce) to use in their daily job duties.  Evaluating and upgrading these systems, if desired, is also part of the role. Superb written, verbal, interpersonal and time management skills are a must.
