Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS) is seeking a Director of Major Gifts to be a part of a growing professional development team. The Director of Major Gifts will develop and implement a comprehensive, donor centered, major and planned giving program focused on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and exercising stewardship of individual prospects with the capacity and interest in making major and transformational gifts.

Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: 7 plus years as senior level development officer with demonstrated success in reaching significant fundraising goals, stewarding existing donors and engaging new donors, and planned giving strategies. Experience in successfully leading a strategic major gifts program. Demonstrable competency in CRM, preferably Raiser’s Edge.
Interpersonal and Analytical Skills: A team player who is action-oriented. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Exceptional prospect research, data and analytical skills.
Other: Position requires occasional travel.
Develop and recommend major, planned and special gifts strategies to reach JFS fundraising goals and objectives.
Facilitate major gifts processes, to include a moves management system for the gift team, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Development Officer (CDO), and others as appropriate.
Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Create and coordinate an effective donor recognition and stewardship program.
In collaboration with the CDO, engage Board members, Development Committee, lay leaders and staff in major gifts efforts, including training as necessary, to make direct solicitations on behalf of JFS.
Coordinate with communications team in the preparation of written materials for major gifts program including donor correspondence and solicitation materials.
Make a persuasive verbal and written case for supporting key programs and projects that successfully match the interests of prospective donors to specific agency needs.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ages with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
Play an active role in fundraising events; attendance at all donor-related events required.
Support the strategic plan for the organization and collaborate with the CDO to set goals and action plans for fundraising efforts.
Fully support the mission, values, current programs, and departments of JFS, as well as the Jewish culture, to persuasively engage friends and funding.
