Spring Point Partners (SPP) maintains a deep risk tolerance and empowers practical, far-ranging solutions using complementary methods to achieve its objectives: grantmaking to nonprofits led by forward-thinking practitioners working to foster long-term systemic changes; impact investments in companies and funds that prioritize equitable access to financial opportunity and wealth building; and program development and other technical assistance to support its partners’ individual and collective efforts.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director of Learning reports to the EVP Impact and will serve as a learning leader and thought partner who immerses in the social impact learning of Spring Point Partners. This role connects to all of the social impact initiatives of the organization and distills the lessons learned, stays abreast of the trends in the field and finds creative ways to connect grantees, investment partners, and staff to new knowledge and ways of thinking. The candidate for this role will have a strong skill set in facilitation, will be fluent in articulating the processes and outcomes of learning, and be a competent and collaborative partner with leaders in the social impact sector.

We are seeking a life-long learner with deep curiosity about how the world works; how people and organizations grow and learn and adapt; what facilitates social change; and how adults learn. The person in this role will have great pattern recognition and know how to connect dots between disparate social impact themes and trends. They will be a deep collaborator, passionate about social justice in all of its manifestations, and be a powerful communicator of and translator for those issues. We are looking for people who read widely, listen to podcasts incessantly, are familiar with TedTalks and other platforms, are excited by new ideas, and are driven by creative curiosity. We need a storyteller, a teambuilder, a teacher, an experimenter, an artist, and a dreamer to fill this role.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Organizational Management
Vision: serve as a thought partner with the EVP Impact to define the learning for social impact, elevate learning in the organization, be a source of connection between external and internal flow of ideas, and advance the work to demonstrate innovations across the social impact sector. Position Spring Point Partners as a learning organization through external presentations, thought leadership, partnerships, and presence.
Values & Culture: embody the values of the Family, and Spring Point Partners, and integrate into the work of the organization as well as positively contribute to a culture of integrity, innovation, and inclusion within the organization
Strategy: support the EVP to collaboratively envision, define, lead, monitor, and report on the learning strategy within social impact, as well as elements of the strategic plan, and support learning within the larger organization
Partnership & Relationship Management: initiate, build, and maintain, a wide range of relationships crucial to the success of the work and integrate organizational values into the management of partnerships
Supervision: provide strong supervision and performance management for assigned staff members (currently co-reporting Executive Assistant), hold those staff members accountable for the supervision of their teams, and provide visible leadership for indirect reports
Budget: provide oversight of Learning budgets and collaborate with the CFO to project future fiscal years

Learning
Impact Learning: facilitate, lead, and sustain a learning process and agenda with and for all social impact grantee and investment partners. Identify and lift up learning across all impact areas as well as investments.
Organizational Learning: support the development of organization-wide learning agendas and facilitate learning from each other’s work as well as from experts and trends in the larger field.
Training: Develop, deliver, and identify impactful trainings for staff and partners on relevant and timely topics that build the field, keep latest trends in staff line of vision, and expose staff and partners to the most important ideas.
DEI: identify themes and opportunities for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within all aspects of the social impact areas
Convening: set the standards for purposeful and high-impact convening of partners, standardize processes to capture learning, oversee staff in the design of seamless learning experiences

Administration & Project Management
Initiative Implementation: lead and/or oversee the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of purposeful learning experiences, events, training, and other modalities
Special Projects: facilitate projects on behalf of the EVP Impact and collaborate across the organization for innovative ideas and learning experiences
Communications: synthesize concepts that allow the EVP Impact and Chief of Staff to define branding for Spring Point Partners grounded in the social impact work and authorize product development

All Staff Responsibilities
Organizational Involvement: participate as an engaged member of the organization beyond core responsibilities including, but not limited to, participating in training/professional development, attending staff meetings/events, and contributing to the organization's values-based culture building including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work
Professional Development: maintain skills and knowledge of industry standards, as well as trends, and advise the EVP Impact of key developments or areas that could impact the organization

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
We are open to a range of professional experiences that candidates provide, and at minimum, meet these qualifications:
Professional Experience: demonstrate at least seven to ten years’ relevant experience at a nonprofit, foundation, or related social impact organization
Technology: ability to integrate technology into work, and proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Education: Bachelor's degree

Flexibility & Availability: ability to quickly pivot and thrive in a fluid environment, with flexibility in scheduling for periodic night or weekend events, as well as overnight travel
Confidentiality: ability to handle confidential information with maturity and discretion
Education: advanced degree (Education, Learning & Development, MPA, etc) preferred
