Job Title:                        Director of Fundraising & Development

Status:                              Full-time/Exempt

Reports To:                  Executive Director

Location:                        Hybrid (On-site/Remote)/Flexible

General Description:
The Director of Development supports Curt’s Café’s mission of empowering youth and young adults (many of whom have severe challenges and barriers), with the skills and confidence needed to secure a career pathway and meaningful employment in the culinary, hospitality, and other local in-demand industries.

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and reporting all of Curt’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director collaborates closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development endeavors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education level, Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a well-rounded fundraising professional, particularly cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual and institutional major gifts and grants, with progressive responsibility over time.
  • Proven track record in setting up and executing development strategy, tracking fundraising performance, establishing, and developing solid donor relationships and meeting fundraising goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Cultural competency to work with individuals and groups from diverse racial, religious, ethnic, educational, ability and social economic backgrounds.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Adaptable and flexible, with ability to manage several priorities simultaneously and strong time management skills.
  • Is knowledgeable of and applies fundraising best practices and training.
  • Experience managing and motivating volunteer leadership, including boards and committees.
  • Understanding and commitment to embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion in fundraising practices.
  • Proficiency in Mailchimp and Office 365, and constituent database. Salesforce experience a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

Development strategies to expand philanthropic support

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government
  • Develops and maintains a portfolio of ongoing relationships with major individual and institutional donors
  • Emphasize retaining major gifts that includes donor recognition and a system for moving donor commitments forward.
  • Provide support to Executive Director in establishing and maintaining a major gift portfolio
  • Oversees organization of special events and targeted appeals
  • Oversees grant seeking including research, proposal writing, reporting requirements
  • Manages and supports Grant Writing Manager (part-time contractor) to ensure timely and accurate submissions

 

Marketing & Communications

  • Oversee key marketing and communications activities and channels, including the monthly newsletter, annual report, website, social media, email communications, media relationships and branding.
  • Supervise Marketing Management and Development staff role

 

Leadership & Board Development

  • Serves as a member of Curt's staff leadership team
  • Collaborates with Executive Director to support Board of Directors, and Board Development Committee meetings
  • In conjunction with Executive Director, Board President, and Development Committee Chair, develop an annual board campaign to ensure that 100% of the Board personally gives to organization – identifying strategies for “give and get” as well.
  • Serves as liaison and manages the Board Development Committee to oversee and participate in fundraising strategies.

 

Planning and Metrics

  • Develops and executes Curt’s annual fundraising plan to accelerate philanthropy over the next five years and beyond
  • Set and meet annual revenue and fundraising goals, including cultivation and stewardship goals as well as new donor and retention goals
  • Create and maintain tracking reports to reflect and assure progress toward fiscal goals
  • Develops and maintains gift recognition program
  • Manages the internal fundraising and grant systems and oversees staff responsible for grant writing, data entry, gift processing, gift recognition program and general fundraising duties
  • Develops a thorough understanding of Curt’s work and effectively communicates the organization’s accomplishments, goals, and strategies to prospective donors.
  • Complies with employee manual, operating procedures manual and consistently demonstrates corporate mission, vision, and pillars of success
