Description

Community Works is a leading, highly respected non-profit agency that has been serving southern Oregon since 1996. The agency is an intervention, prevention, and educational organization providing support to over 13,000 people each year through a variety of programs. Its purpose is to be there for people who are in crisis due to domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking.

Community Works is seeking a Director of Finance who will oversee all financial operations of the organization. The position reports to the Executive Director and acts as a strategic thought-partner to the senior leadership team. The Director of Finance will lead and manage all areas of finance, business planning, and budgeting. This position supervises the Accounting staff, Payroll, and Human Resources. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead the financial management of Community Works through budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting, record keeping, payroll, accounts receivable / payable, financial planning and financial controls.
  • Analyze and present financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements including: variance reporting, statistical analysis, and trend reporting. 
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and processes to ensure an appropriate level of financial control and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards.
  • Responsible for reviewing and adhering to requirements of grant awards; experience and knowledge of grants, including the development of an accurate financial component, monitoring and tracking the allocations received by the agency.
  • Oversees monthly close process, report generation for grants and projects
  • Reconciliation of Statement of Financial Position accounts, and pertinent Revenue accounts.
  • Reconciliation of Revenue within accounting software, donor database, and cash accounts.
  • Track Deferred Revenue and perform proper journal entries when revenue has been earned; and prepare journal entries for monthly administrative allocations
  • Assist with the annual Operating Budget, Single Audit and other government related monitoring; and ensure work is performed in accordance with the organizational standards of federal and state regulations
  • Track and adjust depreciation of organizations assets (including real estate) across proper funds and subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of best practices related to finance in a non-profit agency.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 
  • Proficiency in Financial Edge software a plus
  • Knowledge of fund accounting

Education and Experience

  • Government or non-profit accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years related finance experience.
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
