Summary

The primary objective of the director of development is to oversee Gamma Phi Beta’s charitable efforts with the goal of meeting the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation’s fundraising and funding goals. The director of development is responsible for directing all aspects of the donor lifecycle for Gamma Phi Beta Foundation donors with an emphasis on major gifts and planned giving. The director of development collaborates with the chief executive officer, chief development officer, Foundation Board of Trustees and the leadership and development teams to implement a long-term fundraising strategy for Gamma Phi Beta.

 

Responsibilities

  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist with fostering a culture of charitable giving across the enterprise and position Gamma Phi Beta for long term success by engaging and inspiring members and increasing fundraising.
  • Develop detailed strategies for identifying, cultivating and soliciting planned, principal and major donors at the $1,874 level and higher.
  • Develop appropriate solicitation and briefing materials, including personalized solicitation letters and tailored proposals.
  • Engage in face-to-face in-person and virtual solicitations, moving to closure in a timely fashion.
  • Manages a major gift prospect portfolio of 100 – 120 donors with annual goals for personal visits and solicitations.
  • Support and communicate with Board Trustees and volunteer committees as they consistently refresh portfolios and steward their relationships through activities including research, donor visits and prioritization.
  • Maintain timely and appropriate records in the donor database. Work with the Foundation team to ensure effective gift processing, research, record updates, report requests, stewardship and gift acknowledgements.
  • Collaborate with the chief development officer, volunteers and other staff to develop and deploy a strategic approach to increasing revenue from planned giving.
  • Attend major Sorority and Foundation events and participate in the planning and execution of special donor events.

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree preferred. At least three to five years of related experience. Experience in the areas of development strategy, relationship building, solicitation, stewardship, fundraising, portfolio management and data segmentation skills preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to appropriately and comfortably manage sensitive and confidential high-level donor information.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, Microsoft 365 suite of software and membership database software (iMIS).

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, to include up to 50% travel as well as weekends and holidays.

  • Initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities.

Location

This position is eligible for remote employment.

 

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience, education and location. The hiring range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 annually. Gamma Phi Beta offers a full benefits package with an excellent paid-time off package that includes 15 days of vacation plus sick time, personal days, holidays and two weeks of additional paid-time off over the office’s winter break. Benefits include health, life, disability, vision and dental insurance coverage and participation in Gamma Phi Beta’s 401(k) plan after a year of eligible service.
