Description

Centre is seeking a Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations & Senior Grant Writer to be a key strategic partner to manage the corporate and foundation relations of the College. A primary focus will center on building relationships with national foundations and leading grant-writing initiatives with a passion for liberal arts education and the role philanthropy plays in supporting its mission. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement. 

Job Skills / Requirements

  • Primary responsibility will be working with Foundations to foster relationships and lead all grant writing for the advancement office.
  • Identify and contact corporations and foundations that represent potential funding sources.
  • Seek out new sources of revenue from local, national, and international foundations.
  • Identify opportunities for philanthropic support and write proposals to grant-makers.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation of and commitment to further an inclusive culture for those of diverse backgrounds such as ability, age, class, ethnicity, faith, gender, neurodiversity, race and sexual orientation
  • Serve as the College’s key point of contact with corporate and foundation officials and support other Centre Administrators in their interactions with corporate and foundation staff and directors.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other colleges as needed, when developing grant proposals.
  • Develop and write quarterly and annual progress reports to Corporations and Foundations that have awarded grants to Centre College.
  • Coordinate with other College offices to ensure the completion of accurate and timely reports as requested by grant-makers.
  • Monitor and respond to all communications from foundations to ensure timely completion of applications in advance of grant deadlines.
  • Write personalized acknowledgement letters and send frequent progress reports to key foundation contacts to maintain open and transparent communication.
  • Develop and implement personal and meaningful stewardship plans for grant-makers.
  • Plan, organize and execute campus visits for key corporations and foundations with philanthropic potential for Centre College.
  • Work to identify and expand the list of corporate sponsorships for Centre College throughout Kentucky and across the Southeast.
  • Collaborate closely with the office of sponsored research and office of institutional research.
  • Partner with the major gifts’ office and the development team to share proposal templates, philanthropic data, and grant application resources that will enrich the donor experience across all philanthropic channels.
  • Ensure that all records are secure, accurate, and complete and are maintained in digital form on the College server with access provided to direct supervisor.

 

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of five to ten years of experience in corporate and foundation relations or equivalent experience, with strong emphasis on grant writing, editing, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to represent the College well with key corporate and foundation constituents.
  • Team-first attitude and the willingness to work with faculty and staff members to develop and implement strategies to advance institutional priorities.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Outstanding skills as a writer and editor.
  • Excellent verbal communication and relationship management skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
