About The Compass School of Texas

The Compass School of Texas is a private school in Dallas opening for the academic year of 2023-2024. We will launch with PK4 through 2nd Grade and will grow to 8th grade by 2029. The Compass School of Texas offers a Reggio inspired approach to a strong core curriculum with classical literature, conceptual math, and farm-to-table living. 

The Compass School of Texas spans a beautiful campus in the heart of Dallas at 5414 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas. We have four light-filled classrooms, as well as many outdoor spaces and students will spend a substantial portion of every day in the outdoor learning environments.

The Director of Advancement holds a key position for the growth and future development, both internal and external, of The Compass School of Texas.  This role will report to the Head of School. This role must thoroughly understand and exemplify the school’s mission, vision and values.  Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Run fundraising programs to meet the organization’s financial goals, forecasting future income and gathering feedback from donors
  • Work closely on public relations to attract attention from potential supporters and host events that raise awareness of the school’s goals
  • Oversee and update opex & capex budget and set fundraising goals accordingly
  • Liaise with Launch Committee, Board and other committees and parent associations involved in fundraising
  • Provide assistance in marketing the school to prospective families, donors, and leading school tours  as needed, being available for Open Houses, and handling communication with parents
  • Attract and build new donor relationships while maintaining ongoing ones
  • Construct graphs, reports, newsletters and communication to convey strategies and needs as well as lead donor presentations and tours
  • Write content to earn grants, new audiences and better relationships with donors and other corporations
  • Represent the school in the community at various government agencies, fundraising events, and educational and community associations relative to the role of being Assistant Head of School
  • Attend all school-wide events, administrative and Board meetings as required by the Head of School
  • Project a positive image of the organization to employees, families, and community
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred)
  • Ability to help lead with creativity and discipline
  • Prior experience as an Administrator or Registrar for a similar institution
  • Exemplary computer and MS Office suite literacy, with database familiarity
  • Thorough understanding and exemplification of school’s mission, values, and policies
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills when interacting with children and adults
  • A strong ability to prioritize tasks and remain focused and good-humored under pressure
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with quickly shifting priorities and interruptions
  • Ability to use discretion with confidential information, as this position is exposed to information regarding families and students that must always be kept confidential
  • FACTS experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Texas Licensing requirements for childcare centers as well as DHS requirements a plus.

  • The final candidate will need to pass both a background and reference check, and provide at least three professional references.
