JOB SUMMARY

Schusterman’s Information Technology (IT) team facilitates the implementation and execution of the organization’s strategy through the use of technology resources and data analytics. The Director, IT Philanthropy Systems (Director) is a member of the IT team and is located in Schusterman’s DC office. The Director will primarily support the technology needs of the organization’s grantmaking and operational programs teams, as well as the Communications team. The Director will also work closely with their IT colleagues based in offices across the U.S. and in Israel, to take a holistic approach to the common technology needs across all Schusterman divisions. This is a hands-on position reporting to the Chief Information Officer. The Director will spend significant time actively contributing to projects: analyzing business problems, planning and designing solutions, and ensuring high-quality delivery of systems. The balance of their time will be spent on managing and mentoring IT team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans and operationalizes scalable automated IT systems to holistically support grantmaking and operating programs’ needs.
• Supports the Communications team’s technology needs with particular emphasis on data management practices.
• Ensures a holistic approach to data collection, organization and reporting.
• Takes a time-sensitive and service-oriented approach to resolving problems for internal stakeholders, ensuring continuous availability of our technology infrastructure and rapid resolution of stakeholder technology issues.
• Ensures delivery of robust training as needed for end users of the philanthropy systems.
• Manages projects effectively, delivering on time and communicating status clearly.
• Manages, hires and mentors other IT team members, ensuring that the team functions effectively with defined and repeatable processes.
• Provides proactive leadership and definition of policies, practices, tools and procedures needed to effectively support and deliver value to our stakeholders.
• Takes a data-driven approach to problem solving.
• Identifies gaps and opportunities for improvement in both technology and business processes, as well as developing solutions for those gaps.
• Manages IT vendors, contracts and the services they provide.
• Contributes to data governance work for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are representative of the high level of demonstrated skills, maturity, judgment and ability to work with a wide range of constituencies required of Schusterman employees:
• A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Technology or related field required.
• 10+ years of professional experience in the Technology field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in management required.
• Experience with grantmaking systems required.
• Experience with CRM systems required, preferably Salesforce, required.
• Experience with database technologies, SQL, data analytics and BI tools required, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience with trouble shooting and debugging problems and defining appropriate data-driven solutions required.
• Proven project management skills required, demonstrating an understanding of change-management processes and systems-thinking skills required.
• Proven leadership and people management skills required.
• Strong ability and willingness to quickly gain expertise in new technologies required.
• Adept at developing cooperative working relationships with internal employees and external clients and vendors while exercising tact and discretion required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Flexibility to achieve organizational objectives including ability to participate in local and remote meetings across multiple time zones required.
• Possesses sound judgement, knowing when to escalate an issue and understanding who needs to be involved in a decision required.
• Ability to travel domestic and internationally, upon occasion, required.

COMPENSATION

Competitive salary band of $160,000+ based on experience and Schusterman’s commitment to internal equity. A strong benefits package is also included. Schusterman encourages ongoing professional development and supports activities aligned with one’s individual career growth plan. Schusterman does not cover relocation expenses for this position.
