HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy provides life-changing programs and services to students with cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological impairments. HMS School relies on the financial support of its generous donors to continue its important work to educate, nurture, and care for children and young adults with cerebral palsy. HMS School seeks a detail-oriented, creative, and results-driven leader to join our team in West Philadelphia.

Bring your development vision to life at HMS School. We are seeking an experienced development leader with a knack for relationship building and expertise in fundraising strategy. As the Development Specialist, this individual will have the opportunity to reimagine the HMS Development Program from ideation to assessment. This includes the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s fundraising efforts related to donor relations, gift giving, event planning, and grant funding. The Development Specialist will collaborate directly with the Communications Manager to maximize the donor experience through strategic and purposeful content strategy. Essential goals include – Increase gift giving and fundraising revenue; Expand grant funding opportunities; Cultivate and manage donor relationships from generation to retention

Development Specialist Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to):
• Lead all donor relations initiatives & programming including creative strategy and success assessment
• Increase gift giving and fundraising revenue through digital communications, event planning, and relationship building
• Oversee and expand grant funding opportunities and activities
• Cultivate and manage donor relationships from generation to retention
• Secure fundraising revenue by managing fund development, planned giving, fundraising events, and annual appeals
• Expand opportunities for HMS staff and community supporters to take part in development efforts
• Ability to and/or familiarity with interfacing with PA e-grants system to secure state-funded grants
• Explore events and networking opportunities beneficial to HMS Development Program and school-wide awareness
• Manage donor and funder solicitation, acknowledgement, and reporting
• Create and manage an ongoing editorial Development calendar in collaboration with the Communications department

Development Specialist Requirements:
• 5 years of progressive experience in the field
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience/familiarity with Donor Perfect Fundraising Software a plus
