Description

CUCS is seeking a Development and Communications Associate to join its fundraising and communications team.  This is an exciting position that includes special events, fundraising, and communications responsibilities with a dynamic team of communications and development professionals. Reporting directly to the Chief Development and Communications Officer, this position will play an essential role for CUCS as we work to expand our fundraising and communications initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide significant support CUCS’s major fundraising event, Lift UP New York Benefit Concert and Auction, including collaborating on the development of fundraising strategies to reach revenue goals; assisting in procuring individual, corporate, and vendor sponsorships, ticket sales, and contributions.

Provide significant support for the production details for Lift UP New York. Manage all data and record-keeping related to the event.

Manage aspects of the Lift UP New York auction, including soliciting donations, cultivate new and existing donors, and in-kind donations, coordinating auction displays, acting as primary contact and manager for auction staff and volunteers, and tracking auction winners and post-event communications.

Lead excellent post-event follow-through including follow up on outstanding pledges, debriefing meetings to solicit stakeholder feedback to incorporate into future plans. Create and manage all tax acknowledgment letters for fundraising events.

Collaborate with Development Associate on volunteer recruitment and management for Lift UP New York.

Work closely with the Communications Associate on the promotion for Lift UP New York concerts. Support production of event printing and solicitation.

Provide event logistics support for CUCS All Staff meeting and other agency events.

In collaboration with the Chief Development and Communications Officer and Associate Director, develop both stewardship and engagement plans for corporate partnership initiatives within a specific and growing portfolio of corporate supporters.

Conduct research and lead prospecting efforts to expand the pool of corporate prospects for sponsorship, grant support, and cause marketing. Create and maintain a pipeline of possible corporate and foundation partners by identifying key institutional decision-makers and proactively reaching out to companies/funders to establish new partnerships.

Collaborate with Development Associate to develop and implement fee-for-service initiatives as part of CUCS’s corporate volunteer program

Coordinate annual appeal mailings, email appeals, and other donor communications.  Support the development and implementation of strategies for fundraising that will grow annual revenue from individuals, including monthly donor program, website and social media.

Produce prompt and accurate gift acknowledgments for all donations. Update and personalize acknowledgement letters to reflect important accomplishments and milestones at CUCS.

Collaborate with team to identify and implement new donor database. Coordinating gift processing and maintenance of CUCS’s donor database, including data entry, creating new records, generating reports and mailing lists.

Maintain confidentiality of all donor-related information.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum of 2-4 years fundraising experience, strong experience with special events preferred.

Demonstrated history of successfully meeting fundraising goals and experience in institutional grants management, sponsorship, or cause marketing

Strong attention to contextual detail, especially in donor and data management.

Ability to multitask and manage multiple production timelines while being adaptable to change.

Ability to be self-directed and autonomous while equally comfortable working collaboratively as a member of a dynamic team.

Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, are required. Ability to adapt writing style to CUCS’s organizational voice important.

Adaptable and willing to take on new tasks and responsibilities as they arise.

Must be flexible and open to changing needs and priorities.
