POSITION TITLE:

  • Community Impact Volunteer

 

POSITION TYPE:

  • Volunteer: This is an in-person volunteer position and requires verification of COVID-19 vaccination

 

LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT:

  • Minimum one year commitment with option to renew after mutual review process

 

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Day before event - no more than 2 hours
  • Day of event - approximately 5-6 hours
  • Ongoing organization representation - flexible and determined by need

 

 

OUR MISSION

Operation Warm is a national nonprofit that manufactures brand-new, high-quality coats and shoes for children in need. We partner with compassionate individuals, community organizations, and corporations across North America to connect underserved children to community resources they need to thrive. Over the last 23 years, Operation Warm and our partners have offered the gifts of brand-new coats and shoes as a bridge for families in need to access everything from flu shots to new books.

 

We are seeking innovative, driven, and compassionate individuals who are motivated by positive impact to join our growing volunteer network. We value and are committed to uplifting the perspectives of stakeholders from diverse races, ethnicities, genders, identities, disabilities, and cultures.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This position supports the Volunteer Engagement and Implementation Teams. The purpose of the Community Impact Volunteer (CIV) is to ensure the success of Operation Warm coat and shoe gifting events through flawless execution and delivery of a meaningful experience for both the beneficiary and sponsoring organizations. The Community Impact Volunteer will also serve as a community liaison for future partnerships and events in the local area.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Day before event:

  • Scout event site and meet with site representative
  • Purchase (with reimbursement) of event supplies (water, snacks, office supplies)
  • Set up of signage, station tables, registration, and music, if available

Day of event:

  • Ensure all coat and shoe stations are set up
  • Instruct day-of-event volunteers on responsibilities
  • Ongoing event execution including photos and capture of documentation
  • Recruitment of prospective Community Impact Volunteers

Ongoing Operation Warm representation:

  • Possible short presentations to local partnership groups
  • Research into community needs and requests
  • Branding and educational representative for Operation Warm

 

 

SUPERVISOR:                                                                                                                                                                      Volunteer Engagement Manager

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comfortable with directing groups of volunteers at events
  • Occasional public speaking
  • Knowledge of local area and resources
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to uphold the Operation Warm core values and mission
  • Reliable transportation to and from events
  • Verification of COVID-19 Vaccination

 

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                                           Volunteer will be provided formal onboarding with focus on mission, brand education, and overview of tasks and responsibilities.
