New York Theological Seminary is a diverse and inclusive community of learners providing resources, tools, and strategies for effective leadership, preparing humans to engage in prophetic and transformative ministry and promoting love and respect for creator and creation.

We are seeking an innovative, creative, and experienced individual to fill our Communications Manager position! The Communications Manager is responsible for all areas of the public branding of the Seminary, which entails all areas of the Seminary’s public communications beyond the immediate community of staff and faculty, and apart from the academic programs of the Seminary. The Manager reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Research, works as part of the Institutional Advancement and Research team, and interacts regularly with other members of the Seminary’s administration, faculty, and staff, including the Seminary President, as necessary.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing and publicity for the seminary
  • overseeing design and production of banners, brochures, view-books, program booklets, campaign materials, and the catalog, working collaborative with other members of the staff and administration in providing content and addressing specific development needs (including recruitment)
  • oversee editing, producing, and mailing the Seminary’s newsletters and other publications
  • work with printers to assure timely and accurate production of all such materials for the Seminary
  • managing mailings of publicity materials for special events such as open-house, women’s center gatherings, or special public lectures
  • monitoring use of publicity items at all Seminary events, including banners and display tables for public functions
  • monitor and oversee the look of the NYTS web page
  • monitor use of the Seminary’s logo
  • oversee design and production of stationary, envelopes, and business cards
  • other such activities as are consistent with the position

Requirements

  • minimum of a B. A. or B. S. required
  • minimum 2 years of direct experience in the field of development and/or marketing in a not-for-profit or educational institution
  • excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • proficiency in social media and website communications
  • advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • experience in promotion of special events desired
  • ability to relate to work collaboratively with others in an institution whose mission is to prepare professional leadership with churches and other religious communities
  • self-starter with ability to meet deadlines and be accountable for achieving targeted, benchmark goals
  • evening and weekend hours sometimes required.
