Position Summary: 

The dynamic Communications team at Tides supports departments, individuals, and executives across the organization to share the story of Tides and lift up our partners, both externally and internally. The communications team is seeking a project manager with communications acumen to support the team’s day-to-day operations and support communications efforts. We’re seeking an individual with a strong interest in communications who can manage several work streams at once, is a clear and timely communicator, and maintains a customer service attitude to working with internal clients.

The Communiations Coordinator role is non-exempt and will be based in San Francisco. This role is a one year temporary assignment with the possibility of extension.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Communications Support (50%)

  • Provide general coordination and intake for various projects, including but not limited to external communications campaigns, internal and external events, internal communications projects, and other communications-related work as needed
  • Partner with the Internal Communications Manager and Sr. Communications Manager to manage logistics, workflow, and coordinating across departments to support general communications efforts
  • Provide support with website updates, using WordPress, and email distribution, using Hubspot.
  • Assist with copyediting, content review, and occasional content writing
  • Review media mentions in Meltwater.

Administrative (25%)

  • Track projects in partnership with the Communications Specialist by using Airtable to monitor projects and provide weekly reporting that ensures work is progressing efficiently and support team planning
  • Create and maintain an event expense tracking and budgeting system, as well as support with invoicing, budget tracking, and contractor management.
  • Assist with inventory and distribution of Tides branded products and print collateral, used for internal and external engagement
  • Coordinate agendas and schedule meetings, as needed.

 

Event Coordination (25%)

  • Support the Communications Specialist with event logistics to ensure Tides brand and voice is well represented and that event programming runs smoothly.
  • Publicize events appropriately, including managing invitations, and promotion through our website, social media, and community listservs.
  • Research and manage our list of resources, such as event planners, venue options, catering services, photographers and so on.
  • Maintain events calendar and share a monthly list of events for the Tides newsletter

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum

  • A strong understanding and alignment with Tides Vision, Mission and Approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet dealines
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining a positive attitude, desire to learn and can-do attitude
  • Ability to work effectively with people from different culures, backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Strong interpepersonal skills and an ability to build trust and rapport with internal stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Project management experience
  • Experience in non profit communications
  • A strong work ethic and sense of humor
  • Google Drive and Google Docs experience
  • Experience wit WordPress or other website content management system, Hubspot, HTML, and Airtable strongly preferred
  • Production and event management experience
  • Expereince with Adobe Suite.
  • B.A./B.S degree. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a college degree.
