Description

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)—the leading think tank for science and technology policy—seeks a communications assistant for digital content to publish and curate reports, blogs, and other content on its website (itif.org); design graphics for the web and social media; and produce podcasts, other collateral material, and special projects.
Note: This position can be remote, in Washington, D.C., or hybrid.
Reporting to ITIF’s managing editor, this position is responsible for producing and managing web content, including:
  • Reports: The communications assistant is responsible for ensuring consistent styling of body copy, lists, charts, tables, and other elements in ITIF reports. This requires an eye for detail, an understanding of how to apply style guidelines, and requisite technical skills to correctly format text and visual illustrations of data and other information.
  • Articles: The communications assistant posts a regular flow of articles authored by ITIF’s policy analysts. The successful candidate will take responsibility for quality control, which requires proofreading ability to correct typographical errors; writing talent to compose concise, engaging summary blurbs; and editorial judgement to select thematically appropriate photo illustrations, correctly categorize articles topically, and identify appropriate related content to feature alongside a given publication.
  • Podcasts: The communications assistant is responsible for producing ITIF’s biweekly podcast, including adding an intro and outro, making minor audio edits, and writing summaries.
  • Graphics: The communications assistant is responsible for producing a range of graphics for ITIF and its policy centers, including feature graphics for the Center for Data Innovation’s reports and events, templates for social media posts that promote ITIF events, and banner images for special projects. The communications assistant is also for selecting appropriate editorial photos for ITIF publications and ensuring visual content reflects ITIF’s brand identity.
