WHO  is Peace is Loud?

Peace is Loud collaborates with women-identified and gender expansive change-makers to advance transformative peace and social justice through storytelling. Peace is Loud is situated within Fork Office, which is home to a group of social change and peace-building organizations, including the nonfiction media company Fork Films and the Daphne Foundation. Fork Office provides support to all organizations in the areas of human resources, fundraising, technology systems, communications, and facilities to support in their delivering on their missions and visions.

VISION FOR WHY WE DO THIS WORK

To us, peace doesn’t mean “Mission Accomplished.” It’s not a state of tranquility achieved through the absence of violence. It’s “Let’s Get to Work!” Because when has change ever come from being quiet and idle? Storytelling plays an influential role in how power is created, accessed, and utilized. Long-term transformation requires building power at multiple levels, and within the ecosystem of global and local movement-based work. We leverage the power of storytelling to create a future where all people live in a just safe world with equity and dignity.
HOW WE WORK/OUR APPROACH (Check Out Our New Theory of Change & Organizational Values)

As a nonprofit/NGO based in the U.S. we must fundamentally change harmful, dominant culture and narratives shaped by white supremacy and patriarchy.

To achieve our mission and vision we work through three interconnected approaches grounded in the power of storytelling, and we accompany women-identified and gender expansive movement leaders in building intersectional collective power:

  1. STORY-BASED CAMPAIGNS: Our impact campaigns help movements use documentary films as tools to build power and capacity. We partner with women-identified and gender expansive filmmakers and organizers across physical and digital spaces to facilitate screenings, create educational resources, grow digital audiences, and build coalitions around the globe.
  2. AMPLIFICATION & ADVOCACY: Our Speakers Bureau advocates for meaningful and equitable representation and compensation for women-identified and gender expansive movement leaders in the public and private spheres. We create connections between these leaders across various movements and audiences around the globe.
  3. LEARNING & TRAINING:  We share our campaign learnings, skills, and resources with filmmakers and other impact producers in workshops and trainings, as part of our commitment to strengthening the storytelling for social change community.

JOB SUMMARY:

Peace is Loud is embarking on an exciting new chapter and is looking for either part-time Co-Executive Directors , or a single full-time Executive Director, to anchor its new shared leadership structure.  The two Co-Executive Directors (Co-EDs), will complement each other’s skills, capacities and experiences. Co-EDs are both responsible for the strategic leadership, operations, and executive coordination. This is why we are approaching this Co-ED  process through a co-application process. We also welcome solo applicants to apply, knowing they will have the opportunity to either stay on full-time, or hire someone on as their Co-ED in a part-time capacity.
