Description

Chief Program Officer

St. Anthony Foundation (St. Anthony's) seeks a dynamic and passionate executive to serve as its inaugural Chief Program Officer (CPO). This is a unique opportunity at one of the most comprehensive safety net service centers in San Francisco.

The CPO is a key executive role, reporting to the CEO, in a cherished organization that provides essential services, health care and gateways to stability for families and individuals in need in the San Francisco area. This role is designed for a mission-oriented, exceptional servant leader who can manage the complexity of multiple programs within a $25 million nonprofit organization, while having the vision and drive to mentor and coach a diverse and expansive team. St. Anthony's seeks an individual who can apply a keen process improvement orientation and expert judgment with cost-benefit considerations in mind.

St. Anthony’s is poised for a period of organizational growth, creating an incredible opportunity for a visionary leader to step in and guide staff to innovate existing services where needed and thoughtfully expand services while ensuring that growth is aimed at effectively meeting the needs of the poor and marginalized in an appropriately Franciscan way.

In this role, the CPO will:

  • Lead and implement proposed programmatic, staffing and policy changes related to areas under their direct supervision.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation through direct service line leaders in Healthcare, Fr. Alfred Center, Legacy services and Core Integration services.
  • Bring vision and a strategic mind to the task of meeting basic needs in a city and community where those needs are both high visible and the subject of much attention.
  • Have experience working closely with a board of directors to maximize its effectiveness in supporting the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a personal mission of serving people who are poor, disadvantaged and outcast out of an impulse to honor the dignity of all people and to offer stability opportunities to anyone regardless of their life circumstances. An undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience is required. At least seven years’ of increasingly responsible programs and/or nonprofit operations management experience is required.

The next Chief Programs Officer will be working full-time, in-person based out of St. Anthony's main center located in San Francisco. Senior leaders of the organization must lean in, be flexible and occasionally work on weekends, holidays and evenings. Otherwise, this role offers good work-life balance

The estimated salary range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000, with an opportunity for an annual bonus of up to $25,000.
