Description

Scion Executive Search is leading the search for Homage’s brand-new Chief Operating Officer! Homage is dedicated to promoting independence, preserving dignity, and enhancing the quality of life for older adults and people with disabilities through the provision of services. Homage is the largest provider of services for older adults and people with disabilities in Snohomish County. Each year more than 25,000 individuals benefit from Homage’s programs related to food and nutrition, health and wellness, home repair, social services and transportation.

Position Summary:
Homage has been growing steadily and is now seeking to accelerate growth! The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will enhance the organization’s operating capacity, focusing on strategic execution as the organization transitions from a medium size, one county nonprofit social services organization, into a more robust organization. The goal of Homage is to play a larger leadership role in a regional network of organizations serving older adults and people with disabilities by contracting with healthcare payers and providers.

The Board and CEO are looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience scaling an organization, leading an executive management team, and risk management oversight. The COO will spearhead the development of a performance culture among a group of diverse and talented individuals. The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at Homage deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful COO will have the business, communication, and relationship skills, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase productivity and grow the organization, is it also critical that the team retain the creative spark that drives the Homage mission and promise.

Key Chief Operating Officer Responsibilities:
-Drive organizational results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the CEO, Director of Finance, and other key executive team members to ensure alignment with the mission of the agency remain consistent with the business and strategic plan.
-Lead DEI related activities including, initiating and maintaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive (DEI) culture in partnership with HR.
-Work closely with the senior management team to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems and company policies all designed to foster growth, profitably and efficiencies within the organization.
-Motivate and encourage employees at all levels as one of the key leaders in the organization, including, direct service staff, management level employees, and executive leadership team members.
-Provide for staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence and support an open-door policy, while also fostering a helpful and communication-oriented culture throughout Homage.
-Encourage an environment of employee development through a “coaching” culture.
-Assist the CEO in maintaining positive relationships with all client organizations, sources of funding for the agency, peer organizations, government entities and representatives, and the public.
-Assist in the ongoing development of needs assessments, and program quality assessment tools to identify next steps and areas of opportunity for the agency and to support an ethic of continuous quality improvement for all agency services.
-Carry out the fiduciary responsibilities of Homage and ensure agency compliance with all applicable rules, policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
-Create, oversee and organize management metrics and reporting processes to predict outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
-Assist in the ongoing formulation of Homage’s overall promotional strategy and the development of associated marketing materials and initiatives, with a special emphasis on marketing programs and key strategic initiatives.

-High-level business acumen, including successful profit and loss management, knowledge of risk-management and the ability to develop effective risk-management strategies, and the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget.
-Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people and connecting with staff individually and in groups to help cultivate, develop, and empower high performing leaders from the bottom up.
-Proven understanding of General Management with broad experience in the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing.
-Self-starter who takes initiative, using sound, independent judgment and discretion and seeks guidance and feedback where appropriate – a doer as well as a manager.
-10+ years of operational and financial management experience in a nonprofit or for-profit business.
-Bachelor’s degree or relevant advanced degree in business, management, public administration, education, administration, or a related field. MBA or similar advanced degree highly desired.

Compensation and Benefits:
Homage’s compensation package includes a competitive base salary as well as health, vision, dental, 401(k), 3 weeks of accrued paid vacation that increases with tenure, and 10 paid holidays.
