Description

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany is one of the largest, private, social service agencies in the region, helping more than 89,000 people each year in the fourteen counties of the Albany Diocese. Our motive is simple: to address basic human need at all stages of life regardless of race, religious belief, ethnicity, or lifestyle with special emphasis on the poor and vulnerable in our society.

Integral to the development of the strategic vision and leadership of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for proper staffing and supervision, budget planning and appropriate management and supervision of all financial matters; stewardship of all organizational resources; and compliance with all Diocesan and governmental laws and regulations. The CEO will actively engage with volunteers and donors to support

and expand appropriate relationships that grow philanthropic support and participate in local and regional activities that build community partnerships supporting the mission of Catholic Charities. Responsibilities will be carried out in collaboration with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany in a manner that is consistent with Catholic Social Teaching and in accordance with agency policies and procedures and consistent with the mission of Catholic Charities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A financially savvy and politically astute leader with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills, which support and enable sound decision making.
  • Excellent coalition building skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus among differing opinions.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills and the experience and desire to be an outgoing spokesperson, relationship builder, and fundraiser.
  • Strong commitment to the professional development of staff; successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse team.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 15 years of overall professional experience, preferred.
  • Prior nonprofit experience ideal; management of a complex organization preferred.
  • Significant board development, fundraising, marketing/ branding and fiscal management experience.
