Since its inception, the Urban League of Essex County (ULEC) has been at the forefront of
creating pathways to economic self -sufficiency and community redevelopment for its residents.
Our organizational philosophy is to empower our constituents and serve as a catalyst for positive

residential properties in our communities, training our residents in financial literacy, job training

infrastructure of Essex County and change the social and economic conditions of residents in
disadvantaged and under -invested communities.


Our programs are focused on fostering financial, educational and civic engagement that leads to economic sustainability in Employment, Financial Literacy, Homeownership, Empowering,Young Adults and Community Building.


We are seeking an experienced Development professional with a demonstrated track record of
growing a portfolio of donors to increase giving and engagement. ULEC is seeking a strategic
thinker who can leverage the legacy of the organization and track our record of success to
expand and diversify its funding base. The ideal candidate will be someone passionate about
social and economic justice, with an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to grow ULEC fundraising
efforts now and into the future. This role reports to the President & CEO and serves as a member
of the leadership team.

•Designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive strategic fund development
plan for increasing revenues; building sustainable streams of funding and prospects from
individuals, corporations and foundations
• Creating strategic fund-raising goals and implementing a plan to monitor results
• Responsible for maintaining close working relationships with the Board. Provide support,
prepare and strategically deploy Chief Executive Officer, Board Chair and Board
Members with key potential donors from all constituencies
• Serving as liaison on Board committee(s) that focus and/or support fundraising
• Developing policies and procedures which reflect ethical fundraising practices

The ideal candidate will possess the following distinguishing characteristics and competencies:

• A Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience
