The Job

The Case Manager provides case management support to low-income youth and youth adults ages 16 -24 who may have experienced homelessness/unstable housing, sexual exploitation, foster care, or experience with the juvenile justice system and are participating in our internship program with MOD Pizza.  This role works closely with our partner to support the success of interns in the 10-week program by having excellent communication, regular check-ins, and training MOD staff on trauma informed practices and having positive boundaries with youth.  The case manager builds trusting relationships with the interns, providing them needed resources including housing, behavioral health supports, transportation and teaching them job & life skills that helps them reach their employment, education, and life goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work collaboratively with youth and young adult program staff to recruit and enroll graduates into internship program
  • Support youth in accessing services including housing, behavioral health, education, and employment
  • Provides youth with supports needed to begin employment including ORCA cards, clothing, shoes, backpacks, hygiene supplies, etc.
  • Partners with MOD staff to ensure intern success including interviews into the program, program orientation, weekly check-ins with interns and separate meetings with MOD staff
  • Provides training to MOD staff on working with youth and young adults who’ve experienced trauma
  • Meets weekly with interns to develop goals and plans to support success, discuss how internship is progressing and address any challenges
  • Support youth with resumes, interview preparation and job search—at MOD or elsewhere
  • Provide resources to youth enrolled in other programs as needed
  • Ensures all data entry is timely and accurate in FareStart database
  • Follow all requirements for grant and government funding compliance
  • Travel to internship sites on a regular basis to meet with interns
  • Provide follow up support and data tracking for one year post program completion
  • Collaborates with MOD on intern program completion celebrations
  • Support program growth by working with/training partner agencies in other areas of the state

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth and young adults who have experienced homelessness, sexual exploitation, foster care, involvement with the criminal justice system and behavioral health issues
  • 1 year of youth case management experience
  • Excellent understanding of resources available to youth and young adults in King County
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to form positive, trusting relationships with youth and young adults
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners and across FareStart
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Committed to helping youth reach their employment and education goals
  • Experience teaching job preparedness classes
  • Able to travel to meet with interns throughout Seattle with occasional travel to other areas of the state

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • During public stay at home order, employee will be working remote and on-site.
  • COVID-19 Consideration: We coordinate with the King County Public Health Department and the CDC to follow all required protocols

Travel – Occasional travel between work sites up to a 10 mile radius
