Reports to: Program Manager

APA Family Support Services (APA) is a community-based organization that focuses on the prevention and identification of child abuse/neglect in the community. Our mission is to promote healthy children and families by providing family support services to prevent child abuse and domestic violence and to advocate for culturally competent services through education, community building, and leadership development. We do this through case management and family support services at our family resource centers. By providing parents with a safe and welcoming place outside of their homes, they increase their social circles and have a forum to gain their voice.

APA is also the lead for Visitacion Valley Strong Families (VVSF) and API Family Resource Network (APIFRN).

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible for providing case management/family advocacy through self-referral, other service providers, Child Protective Services (CPS), other agencies, Child and Family Team meetings, Supervised Visitation services, and participating in community events and activities
  • Provide crisis intervention and case management to families
  • Coordinate services to include intake, assessment, and referrals to internal services and community service providers
  • Facilitate children and families events and groups
  • Liaise with service providers to coordinate resources and services for families and to follow up with linkage to services offered
  • Maintain client records in Salesforce and CMS and perform assessment evaluations to update client progress
  • Develop agency material including project flyers and other outreach materials
  • Participate in agency meetings and community meetings as directed. Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to the targeted population to effectively promote program services
  • Maintain required documentation for funding and statistical compliance
  • Prepare project reports and other documents promptly
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with community service providers, funders, and other agencies/programs to educate and advocate for the needs of families and communities
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social services, psychology, or, a related field; and/or a combination of coursework and field experience in areas of children and family services, and social work with child abuse prevention focus
  • Interest and commitment in the field of family support or community services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in interviewing techniques, crisis intervention, and case management services
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem–solving skills
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with San Francisco’s child welfare system and social services community
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member and leader
  • Computer technical skills including word processing and developing spreadsheets
  • Bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, or Spanish is a plus

Salary: $47,000 - $50,000; Full-time, 40hrs/wk
