Description

Puppies Behind Bars is searching for an Associate Director of Development to work with our Executive Vice President and our Database Manager, as well as our President.

Duties will include assisting with all aspects of development work, including researching, developing and writing grant proposals, preparing interim and final reports for funders, engaging with individual donors and foundations, gift acknowledgement, assisting with event planning, filing state registrations and employee giving campaign applications, preparing internal reports, and organizing and maintaining pertinent files and support materials. The Associate Director of Development will help Puppies Behind Bars develop new sources of funding, strengthen relations with donors, streamline development processes, and promote the organization’s mission to the public.

Candidates should possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills, good people skills and time management skills, and be comfortable with public speaking. Familiarity with SalesForce, and with social media and online fundraising strategies, would be desirable assets. Minimum five years development experience is required, but compatible experience from other fields that would enhance a candidate’s ability to meet the varied needs of the position and the organization will be given weight.

Over time, the Associate Director of Development will build relationships with both new and current donors and sponsors, and will have an increasing role in grant stewardship.
