Description
The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)—the leading think tank for science and technology policy—seeks an associate director for its Center for Clean Energy Innovation (CCEI). CCEI’s mission is to accelerate energy and climate innovation through creative and effective public policies in the United States and around the world. The successful candidate will help lead the Center’s team of analysts pursuing this mission and conduct a research and outreach program of their own. The associate director will work with the director to define and manage the Center’s research and outreach agenda, play a key role in fund-raising from foundations and individuals, author and present research in multiple formats, and participate actively in the climate and energy policy and advocacy community in Washington, D.C., and beyond.
The associate director must be passionate about the potential for innovation policy to address energy and climate challenges and be prepared for a leadership role in a fast-paced, high-powered think-tank. The associate director must have experience managing talented staff and winning foundation grants as well as a record of publishing high-quality policy-relevant analysis and a solid professional network in the field. The associate director must be a detail-oriented, intrinsically motivated self-starter who is able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
- Lead a qualitative and quantitative research program on clean energy innovation policy.
- Manage analysts carrying out this program.
- Contribute significantly to the program through writing, presentations, and outreach.
- Raise funding to support this program by writing grants and engaging with individual donors.
- Keen interest in clean energy, innovation, and public policy.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Graduate degree in public policy, energy technology, or a related field.
- Seven years or more of relevant research and policy experience.
- Three years or more of experience managing and raising funding for policy-relevant research.
- Ability to communicate clearly with expert and non-expert audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on analytical products in a fast-paced environment.
