Description

AAPF is seeking an enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to join our team! This position is a full-time salaried remote role with the potential to transition into an in-office role. Reporting to the Executive Officers, the Administrative Assistant will provide office management, scheduling, administrative support, and other assistance to the AAPF Executive Officers.

Founded in 1996, The African American Policy Forum (AAPF) is an innovative think tank that connects academics, activists, and policy-makers to promote efforts to dismantle structural inequality. We utilize new ideas and innovative perspectives to transform public discourse and policy. We promote frameworks and strategies that address a vision of racial justice that embraces the intersections of race, gender, class, and the array of barriers that disempower those who are marginalized in society. AAPF is dedicated to advancing and expanding racial justice, gender equality, and the indivisibility of all human rights, both in the U.S. and internationally.

 

The Ideal Candidate should have:​

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Flexibility to pivot as needed and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Experience with timekeeping systems

  • Demonstrated ability to schedule appointments and meetings

  • Experience in interpersonal communications

  • Basic accounting skills (helpful, but not required)​

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:​

  • Scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars of the AAPF executive officers

  • Assisting in the management of accounts (prominently email accounts)

  • Dealing with complex, multi-layered communication with various AAPF partners and collaborators

  • Preparing communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports, and other correspondence

  • Screening press calls and media requests for comment or interviews

  • Responding to requests for meetings with the AAPF Executive Director in her capacity as a public figure, writer, political commentator, or consultant

  • Creating and/or maintaining filing systems, both electronic and physical

  • Other duties as assigned

Salary commensurate with experience (falling within the range of $42,000-$48,000).
