Founded in 1958, The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers ("NACDL") serves as a leader, alongside diverse coalitions, in identifying and reforming flaws and inequities in the criminal legal system, redressing systemic racism, and ensuring that its members and others in the criminal defense bar are fully equipped to serve all accused persons at the highest level. Supporting NACDL's work is the public charity the NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice.
Position Description
NACDL is currently looking to hire a dynamic Administrative Assistant to work with the Executive Director and the head of Development and Fundraising. This role serves as the eyes and ears for the Executive Director (ED) connecting projects and critical business information to the ED and ensuring meetings and materials are timely and complete. . This role will coordinate and manage executive scheduling and prepare and organize necessary materials and reports. In addition, the Administrative Assistant acts as a liaison to the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees, supporting board meetings and preparing board materials. This role also assists the head of development in donor tracking, planning, donor recognition and executing fundraising events, maintaining the fundraising website and other systems, scheduling, recording meeting minutes, and other administrative functions needed to fulfill grant requirements. In addition, this position supports other departments as needed.

This dynamic role requires the ideal candidate to have at least 3 years of relevant experience, exemplary time management skills, and the ability to identify and anticipate the ED's needs. In addition, the individual must have outstanding organizational skills and strong writing and critical thinking skills. This role interacts seamlessly and with a professional demeanor across a broad range of individuals, including members of the Senior Management Team, Board of Directors, Board of Trustees and Staff. Finally, the individual is expected to handle highly sensitive and confidential financial, legal, personnel, and institutional information while exercising professionalism and discretion.

This position is based at NACDL's Washington, D.C. office, conveniently located near downtown Metro stops. The salary range is $45K to $53K commensurate with experience.
