Description

Learn Your Rights in the Community (LYRIC) seeks a part-time administrative assistant for a remote position. LYRIC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that educates and empowers young people to exercise their Constitutional rights. LYRIC connects attorneys and law students with young people in classrooms and the community to bring the law to life. LYRIC’s program sets up presentations around the Denver metro area and coordinates with attorney and law school volunteers to teach these presentations. We need an administrative assistant who is passionate about our mission to help us run our program. This job would be a 1099 position, it requires about 5-10 hours per week, and would be almost entirely remote.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant will work remotely and provide support to the President of the Board of Directors. The position requires the candidate to recruit attorney and law school volunteers to teach LYRIC presentations, communicate with volunteers, lawyers, and teachers. Additionally, the position requires the creation of social justice social media content, and management of LYRIC's social media accounts. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to respond promptly to emails and other contacts. All work will be done remotely by email, phone, and through LYRIC’s website. Volunteer outreach requires the candidate to send detailed emails to volunteers and teachers with links to training materials, logistical instructions for the presentations, and to communicate with volunteers and teachers after each presentation. LYRIC's administrative assistant is in charge of managing LYRIC’s database, requiring data input and organization skills.

LYRIC also holds an annual fundraising event in person, and the candidate will be required to help plan, set up, and participate in the annual event in-person in Denver. As part of your role you will be expected to drive to schools to drop off materials as needed, and also send LYRIC materials via mail.

Qualifications

Applicants must be self-motivated, have strong communication skills, and an attention to detail. It is helpful if candidates have a connection to the mission or a passion for social justice causes. Occasional travel is necessary and a background check is required.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation is $17.50 per hour paid as a 1099 position. The position requires about 6-10 hours per week and is almost entirely remote. The organization is established in Denver, and the annual fundraiser is held in downtown Denver.
