Studio East is seeking an Accountant to join our administrative team. The Accountant is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions, timely processing of transactions, and accurate maintenance of the financial accounting system. The Accountant works closely and collaboratively with the Managing Director on all financial functions of the organization. The successful candidate enjoys a fast-paced, collaborative environment and embodies our commitment to our mission and our fiscal responsibility.

Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Print and reconcile daily sales reports and post in QuickBooks
  • Entry and deposit of cash and check receipts
  • Check bank activity daily and print back-up documentation for posting
  • Annual applications for property tax exemptions, business licenses, Reseller, and sales tax exemption certificates
  • Compliance with state charitable and corporate filing
  • Accounts receivable invoicing and collection
  • Accounts payable posting and timely payment of bills
  • Payroll and quarterly payroll tax preparation and reconciliation
  • Reconciliation and preparation of monthly City of Kirkland Ticket Tax Reports
  • Quarterly preparation of Department of Revenue B&O and sales tax reports
  • Post credit card receipts
  • Bank and credit card reconciliation
  • General Journal Entries
  • Employee records maintenance
  • Preparation of annual audit and Form 990 reports and requests
  • Maintain working papers to tie to financial statement balances
  • Apply for Special Occasion permits for Galas and fundraising events
  • Ensure compliance with state liquor and gambling laws
  • Financial reporting to management, board of directors, and funders
  • Maintain and improve on accounting internal controls
  • Annual preparation of W-2s and 1099s
  • Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting process

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience, non-profit accounting strongly preferred
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop, including payroll
  • Experience managing benefits, and compliance with payroll taxes and labor laws
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels of interaction, both internally and externally
  • Able to work independently, problem solve and prioritize tasks
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Displays highest standards in ethics, values, and confidentiality

Position Specifications:

  • Full-time non-exempt
  • $55,000-$60,000 DOE
  • Will require proof of COVID-19 Vaccination upon hire
  • Must pass background check
  • This role can be fulfilled on hybrid basis - remotely and onsite at Studio East in Kirkland, WA
